Less Field Termination

Short PV extensions are often needed for row transitions, equipment replacement or routes that differ from standard module lead lengths. A factory-cut and terminated H1Z2Z2-K extension removes the need to prepare another connector pair on site. That reduces repetitive stripping and crimping work at the array and gives the installer a finished lead whose cable size, length and connector system are defined before it reaches the roof.

Right-Length Extensions

Excess cable creates loops that are harder to support and inspect, while a lead that is too short encourages tension at the connector. Supplying the extension in selected finished lengths helps match the actual distance between modules, rows or combiner equipment. The result is a cleaner route with less unused cable and less mechanical load at the connection points.

Connector Consistency

PV reliability depends on the cable and connector being treated as one connection system. The extension is built around H1Z2Z2-K and the selected Stäubli connector configuration, allowing the contact, seal and cable size to be matched before assembly. This is especially useful for replacement and retrofit work, where maintaining one connector family avoids introducing an uncontrolled interface into an otherwise consistent string circuit.

Mated Connector Protection

Stäubli Original MC4 and Original MC4-EVO 2 assemblies provide IP65/IP68 protection when correctly assembled and mated, including the stated IP68 condition of 1 m water depth for 1 hour. This matters on exposed rooftop connections where sealing depends on the complete cable-and-connector assembly, not on the cable sheath alone.

Cable-body dimensions match the corresponding H1Z2Z2-K size. Finished length and connector configuration are assembly parameters and do not change the base-cable conductor data.

Will the approval documents match the exact cable you quote?

Where a certificate, test report or DoP is part of the approval package, we match it to the quoted cable construction and the applicable scope. A document for one version is not treated as approval for another simply because the model name is similar.

Does the same H1Z2Z2-K CPR documentation cover Twin, PV Extension and rodent-resistant versions?

Not automatically. Twin constructions, connectorised extensions and modified constructions such as nylon barrier or steel-wire armour have to be checked against the scope of the applicable documents. For a PV extension lead, CPR evidence for the base cable does not by itself classify the complete connectorised assembly.

Can you match the PV connector system already used on our project?

Send the exact connector manufacturer and model together with the cable size. Current PV extension options include Stäubli Original MC4 and MC4-EVO 2. Compatibility is checked against the actual connector system; appearance or a general “MC4-compatible” description is not enough.
